Candidates for a Hair Transplant
Some hair loss causes are relatively simple and easy to treat, while others are more complex medical conditions. They include:
- Stress.
- Deficiencies of protein, iron, and/or zinc.
- Long-term use of tight hairstyles.
- Hormonal changes, e.g. birth control use, menopause, or thyroid disorders.
- High levels of male hormones, which is also the cause of male-pattern baldness.
- Medications such as chemotherapy drugs.
- Autoimmune disease (alopecia areata).
The hair transplantation procedure we offer at Nuance Las Vegas is best for men and women with permanent, male-pattern baldness that predominately affects the hairline.
Good candidates for a hair transplant are:
- Patients with androgenic alopecia (male-pattern hair loss).
- Women with localized female-pattern hair loss.
- People with stable bald or thinned out patches of hair that are not expected to worsen or improve.
- People with traction alopecia from styles that constantly pull the hair.
- Patients with scar alopecia after burns, surgery, or injury.
Hair Transplant Procedure
Nuance Aesthetics is proud to offer the semi-automated Neograft Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique, a non-surgical method of hair restoration. With minimal discomfort and no stitches or downtime, you can avoid the old “strip method” procedures that left scarring.
With our preferred method of hair transplant, Las Vegas residents are in luck. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) does not remove a long strip of hair, unlike Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Instead, we use the Neograft wand to gently remove groups of 1-5 follicles from the back of your head. This region is not vulnerable to excess testosterone and is less likely to be affected by traction alopecia. Then, your follicles are implanted in the site of hair loss using tiny incisions, and are left to anchor and establish their own blood supply.
With average transplantation of 1,000-2,000 follicles, the typical price range of Neograft is from $5 to $12 per follicle. Nuance Aesthetics makes the treatment affordable to the patients by keeping the costs closer to a lower end.
Benefits of FUE Transplantation
If you’re looking for a hair transplant, Las Vegas’ Nuance clinic is the best thanks in part to our FUE transplant procedure. FUE gives you a natural look, as follicles are individually placed to recreate a natural hairline. There is no excessively straight hairline or obvious strip where the donor hair was harvested.
Additionally, FUE is less likely to trigger hypertrophic or keloid scars. It gives you a much shorter recovery time and allows you to wear your hair very short, as there is no large strip of transplanted follicles. And if you have a severe case of alopecia, FUE allows you to use facial or even body hair.
Additionally, the individual extraction and implantation of follicle units (made of 1-5 hairs each) gives you a more natural hairline. If not all of your “donated” hair grows back, any missing follicles are less noticeable.
How Long Do Hair Transplants Last?
Hair transplantation is irreversible, and you can expect long-term improvements to your appearance. However, the transplanted follicles are not immune to aging or other issues that may affect hair growth. This is why it’s also important to continue taking medication such as minoxidil if advised.
Hair Transplant Repair
To ensure as many hair follicles survive as possible, you must closely follow all aftercare instructions. Do not rub, touch, wash, or otherwise apply pressure to the transplant site in the first 48 hours (no hats!). For 1-2 weeks, you will likely have to wash your hair with a bowl of lukewarm water and spray-on shampoo, and only wear hats that don’t directly contact your transplant site.
Hair Transplant Cost
The cost for hair transplant procedure in Las Vegas ranges from $5-12 per follicle with Neograft. We keep our prices affordable to the patients, so a 2-3,000 follicle transplant typically starts from $10-15,000.
