FUE Hair Transplant

Hair loss affects up to 85% of men and 40% of women and leaves you looking and feeling much older. Fortunately, if you’re looking for a long-term solution, such as a FUE hair transplant, Las Vegas provides you with an opportunity to regain your youthful looks at Nuance Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery.

Follicular Unit Transplantation with FUE

At Nuance, Dr. Mehdi Sina and Dr. Jeannie Khavkin’s favorite method of hair transplantation is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). While the older Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) method involves strips of hair follicles being transplanted from the back of your scalp, FUE transfers groups of several follicles. With our Neograft device, each follicle unit is only made of 1-5 hairs.

During FUE, your surgeon will first shave down the donor and transplant sites. Then, the Neograft wand removes “donor” hair follicles by suction, which your surgeon implants with tiny incisions. The most common donor site is the back of your head, where there is no androgenic hair loss and missing follicles are less noticeable. However, more severe hair loss in men often requires your beard as a donor site.

Benefits of FUE Hair Transplantation

A FUE transplant has several benefits over other procedures. The best reason to try a HUE procedure is the youthful, natural look you’ll enjoy. You may not regain your 20-year-old reflection, but it will take years off your appearance. As groups of less than five follicles are used, you won’t have any strips or clusters that resemble a doll’s hair either.

Other advantages of FUE over the “strip-mining” FUT technique center around its minimally invasive nature. You get to enjoy a faster recovery time with no scarring, although there may be tiny white dots where the hair was harvested. There’s even a higher yield of surviving hair, thanks to the precise technique.

FUE Hair Transplant Side Effects and Risks

Every procedure has its risks, but thankfully FUE’s adverse effects are mild and temporary. You can expect pain, swelling, and numbness in the surgical sites after your FUE procedure, which generally resolve in a week. Another common side effect is the “ugly duckling” phase, where some native and transplanted hair falls out due to shock. This will resolve within three to six months.

The Cost of FUE Hair Transplants

FUE hair transplants cost vary depending on a number of factors. Your total cost not only depends on the experience of your surgeon but also the number of hair follicles transplanted. You can expect to pay $5-12 per hair follicle with the Neograft method, and hair transplant prices at our Las Vegas office are competitive and affordable to most of the patients.  Better yet, you will work with the best FUE hair transplant surgeons in Las Vegas.
