Cheek Augmentation

Many people have sunken or low-volume cheeks, but this can create an excessively thin or gaunt appearance. Others may want to change the shape of their face. In either situation, you don’t have to simply put up with a facial structure that bothers you, as cheek augmentation is a possibility for Las Vegas patients.

What is Cheek Augmentation Surgery?

Cheek augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to add volume or lift to your face. It is a highly individualized operation, with options tailored to your natural face and desired goals.

Candidates for Cheek Augmentation

Cheek augmentation surgery is indicated for people who have volume loss due to aging or health conditions that affected bone growth. Additionally, transgender people often seek out cheek augmentation to feminize or masculinize their appearance. You must also be a non-smoker, have a stable body weight, and have realistic expectations about the results.

Options for Cheek Augmentation

There are two options for cheek augmentation: fat transfer and silicone implants.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer is the natural choice, as it involves moving fat from one part of your body to your cheeks. This looks and feels like your natural face shape, is more versatile in its placement options, and other parts of your face can “share” in the transfer. However, it’s best for more minor changes.

Cheek Implants

Silicone cheek implants are most suitable for major changes to your facial appearance. They’re more easily noticeable, especially if you have little natural volume.

Recovery from cheek augmentation takes several weeks. You may need dressings or bandages, or have incisions placed inside your mouth. If they are on the inside, you will need a liquid diet, mouth rinses, or both.

Results of Cheek Augmentation Surgery

Cheek implants or fat transfers provide significant visual anti-aging effects. Volume restoration can make you look younger than wrinkle reduction alone. If you are having cheek augmentation as part of gender-affirming care, they can make your real self look more, well, real. Modern techniques and materials do not make it obvious that you’ve had surgery.

If you feel that you appear gaunt and sunken, or that your face is too masculine or feminine, cheek implant surgery may be for you. We have years of experience in personalizing plastic surgery to suit patients’ unique needs.
